Autobiography

If somebody asked me twenty years ago what I would be doing when I was thirty the last answer I would have given them is teaching. I would have to say teaching has not been a lifelong dream of mine but it is an excellent profession that is challenging and exciting. The reason why I chose to become a teacher is to pass down the information that I have attained throughout my life experiences, and pass them down to eager young minds.  I feel that teaching is the best way to become an expert in a specific subject. A teacher needs to develop a higher level of understanding in order to deliver complex material. During my career as a teacher I know there are going to be times that are rewarding as well as trying. I know that when these instances occur I will be able to have a lifelong impact on students whether they are good or bad.

The personal attributes that I feel make me a good teacher is my ability to relate to the students on a personal and professional level. I like to create an environment for the student that is relaxed and positive to promote complex thinking. I don’t like the students concentrating on grades I rather have them understand what they are learning.  Finally, I have life experience that I believe bring my teaching to the next level. I personally in the last five years have had the opportunity to build my own home from the ground up as well as two custom Harley Davidson motorcycles.  These experiences dazzle the students and capture their attention.

My long term goals are to further my education so I can keep growing as a person and as an educator. I would also like to challenge myself and become the leader of the high school technology department and create projects and ideas that will promote growth and learning for years to come.
